Edibles are becoming more and more popular as plants that are used both for landscaping and consumption. When space for a large garden is not readily available, why not incorporate fruit and vegetable plants in your landscape gardens? For example, some fruit shrubs such as Blue Berry have a very attractive fall color; some vegetable plants have unique leaves, and unique flowers. Others can be grown as vines on a trellis or confined to pots. Some plants like Strawberries with attractive white flower and evergreen foliage can be used as a ground cover plant. Strawberry ‘Lip Stick’ is an ornamental variety of strawberry that produces a bright pink flower and edible fruit. Some of the leaves of strawberry exhibit a nice reddish fall color.
Wordon Grape is a blue-black grape and is vigorous and very hardy. It doesn’t need winter protection, is excellent for eating, but also is good for making juice and jelly. It has good mildew resistance.
Kay Gray Grape is a white grape that is medium size, juicy and tender. Clusters are small and compact; it is very vigorous and tends to grow horizontally. It is only slightly susceptible to mildew/diseases.
Himrod is a large, white grape with tender skin; it is early ripening and seedless. It a good eating variety and used for raisins; also used in wine production. Is quite resistant to mildew.
