ASTILBE, VISIONS, very showy pink spikes in early summer. Does not like hot summer sun so it is best to plant them where there is shade. Provides a nice accent to other plants. It will attract butterflies and is deer resistant. Grows in wet areas. These plants will grow around 14” tall and about 12” wide. Astilbe Fanal deep blooms are presented in upright spirals. Foliage is mahogany red in the spring changing to green by summer. Very popular red variety. Grows up to 20” tall. Astilbe Sprite- a dwarf densely mounded astilbe with shell pink drooping panacles of flowers. Very glossy green leaves. Grows only 12” to 15” tall. BLACKEYED SUSANS, sometimes called Rudbeckia are daisy like plants with yellow petals and a characteristic dark brown center. These plants are native and they can be found flowering along the sides of roads in the summer. Goldstrum is one of the most popular varieties found in the nursery industry. They are attractive to butterflies and are deer resistant. Goldstrum will grow 2’ to 2 ½” tall and forms a clump. It is covered with many blooms mid to late summer. BLANKET FLOWER, GOBLIN-has scarlet-red daisy like flowers with sunny yellow tips around the flower. Continues to flower throughout the season and grows only to 12” tall. Grows in poor soil and is heat tolerant. BLEEDING HEART, LUXURIANT, one of the best bleeding hearts; it has small dark reddish pink heart shaped flower that begin to bloom and continues to bloom throughout the season when given adequate amounts of water. Classic with fern like leaves and is an excellent flower for shady areas. It is also sun and heat tolerant. Grows 12” to 15” tall. BLUE CLIPS, low growing ground cover type perennial which grows 6” to 8” tall and spreads up to 12”and has small dainty blue flowers . It has a long bloom season and likes moist soil conditions. Also sometimes called Bell Flower. Deep Blue Clips are a dark purple blue and White Clips grow around 8” and have larger white flowers. Birch Hybrid Clips grow 3” to 4” with blue flowers. A good rock garden plant. LaBella Bell flower is tall, upright with small stems bearing a bouquet of small, double, deep blue flowers with a silvery gloss. Forms a basal mound of long leathery evergreen dark green leaves. Grows 24”. CATMINT, LITTLE TRUDY, is a dwarf catmint selected for its short, compact, blue-green foliage and its long season of bloom. Profuse lavender-purple flower spikes. Grows 10” to 12”. CONEFLOWER, PURPLE, rosy purple flowers with daisy-like petals that surround a large light orange-brown cone center. Grows in clumps to 3’. White Swan a white coneflower grows around 2 ½’ with white horizontal petals with orange-brown center, and Pow Wow flowers are a deep pink to almost magnate color. Grows only 18” to 24” tall with stiff, well branched stems. They can stand along without the support of other plants; Holds flower color well. We also have POW WOW Wild Berry, with a bright raspberry flower. CORAL BELL, PALACE PURPLE, is one of the most well-known coral bells. With large purple star shape leaves this plant will flower in late spring to early summer with tiny cream flowers. Grows 8” to 12” tall and up to 20” wide. We also grow Electra which has striking red veins with gold foliage making this coral bell stand out in any garden. Then leaves of bright chartreuse in the summer and early fall. Grows around 12” tall. COREOPSIS, TICKSEED, with small daisy type flowers the coreopsis have a long bloom period and very in height. Dream catcher has a vibrant magenta pink semi double flower with a dark purple eye and orange center. Blooms well all summer. Thread leaf foliage and will grow up to 14” tall. Early Sunrise – with yellow- orange flowers is one of the earliest coreopsis to flower. Grows up to 18”. Sunfire has large yellow flowers with very dark red around the center of the flower; the center is multicolor of yellows and gold’s and grows large- up to 20”. DAISY, ALASKAN, is a large Shasta daisy that grows 2’ to 3’ and blooms white with dark yellow center born on the top of long stems. Make it a good daisy to cut for vases. Will flower June to September. Banana Cream large 4” flowers open lemon-yellow. Flowers will fade through the season to light butter yellow and finally to cream white. With dark green foliage, and short growing of around 15” this is a hit in any garden. Crazy Daisy with very showy- mostly white double flowers and grows around 2’ tall. Snow Lady is a dwarf daisy with the white regular size daisy flowers on short stems. Grows around 1’ tall. Silver Princess is a very small daisy low growing clump daisy (approximately 12”) that blooms June until September. DAISY, PAINTED, James Kelway is a painted daisy with bright red flower pedals and a bright yellow center. Very colorful daisy that grows 1 ½ ‘to 2’ tall. A stand out in any garden. DAYLILLIES, Happy Returns is an extremely popular and widely used reblooming daylily. 3”flower that has a fragrant canary yellow flower, blooms profusely in early summer and reblooms sporadically until frost. Parentage of ‘Stella de Oro’. Very heat tolerant. ‘Stella de Oro’ World’s most popular re-blooming daylily flowers are more gold than lemon yellow of the Happy Returns. Blooms early summer and followed by waves of re-blooms until early fall ‘Pardon Me’ is miniature re-blooming daylily; flower grows 2.75” wide and has a fragrant cranberry red flower with a yellow water mark green throat. Petals are pie crust ruffled edges. Blooms from Mid-July until mid-October. ‘Purple de Oro’ is a miniature re-blooming daylily with compact growth habit. Flowers are 2.5” narrow pie crust edges, deep purple veining and white tips. Blooms mid- summer and then re-blooms. They re-bloom best if deadheaded. DIANTHUS ‘Frosty Fire’ Dianthus is often called “Pinks”. Double, Chinese lacquer-red blooms explode over mounds of icy blue green, evergreen foliage, deadheading will help it re-bloom. ‘Tiny Rubies ’is a double bright pink flower one slender stems, grow as a mound to 3”to 4” tall. Sometimes called carnations. GERANIUM ‘Alpenglow’ cup-shaped, lavender-pink flowers. Strong grower and benefits from being deadheaded. Leave turn crimson red in fall. ‘Tiny Monsters’has purple-violet flowers. It is a solid performer, and maintains its low growing habit throughout the entire season. Grows to small mound 4”to 6”. Perennial geraniums grow in the shade, but will also do well in sunny situations. HOSTA, Patroit Hosta has Ovate shape variegated leaves- have dark green centers and crisp white streaked margins. Leaves are slightly wavy and display good sun tolerance. One of the most popular variegated Hosta. Height 22 “, spread 30”. We carry several other varieties. IRIS , They are the tall bearded Iris that have been grown for decades, they are a wonderful accent plant for a late spring garden. Iris have an orchid type flower. Siberian/ ‘Caesar’s Brothers’ deep purple self, one of the oldest and still one of the best Siberians, their leaves are slender and upright. Blooms profusely in early summer. Foliage remains beautiful until frost. ‘Butter and Sugar’ Siberian Iris creamy white standards and butter-yellow falls, excellent flower form, blooms in early summer. Ruffled Velvet red-purple , velvety flowers and blooms in early summer. Grows 2 ½’ tall with flower stalks growing larger. Likes wet conditions. LADY’S MANTLE, Mollis foliage is a soft grey- green and nearly round with deep lobes. Late spring to early summer, masses of finely textured star shaped yellow green flowers grow above the foliage. Can be used as a ground cover. LIATARIS ‘Kolbold’ Dwarf Gayflower, deep purple spikes, grows 18”. It is a very strong vertical accent for the garden. LUNGWORT, ‘Raspberry Splash’-early spring dazzling raspberry-pink flower clusters dance among the dark green, silvery spotted leaves like drops of silver paint. The leaves stay fresh throughout the season. Flowers in late spring and continues until early fall. Has profuse flowering abilities. It is one of the very best cultivars available. Roy Davison Lungwort- flowers emerge pink in the late spring and turn blue as they age. Leaves are enlongated with silvery spots. They grow 8’’ to 12” wide and 18” to 24” high and like partial shade. MONARDA, MARSHALLS DELIGHT, has hot pink flowers and is the most mildew resistant of the Monarda therefore in one of the best Monarda. Often called Bee Balm because its attraction to bees, but also attracts butterflies. It does not have the aggressive spreading habit of some other larger growing monarda. Marshalls Delight Grows 2’ to 2 ½’ tall. ORNAMENTAL ONION, A profusion compact ornamental onion reaches about 1’ tall and about 1’ wide- smaller than some other varieties. Round, bright rosy lavender flower clusters appear on the top strong stems. Bees and Butterflies adore it. It does have the smell of an onion (because it is an onion!) therefore help keep critters like rabbits and deer away. Compact upright clump of glossy green leaves. They make a nice flower to cut and put in a vase. PEONY’S, Plants bear an attractive, glossy green foliage that reaches 2’-3’ in height with similar spread. The flowers single and double flowers resemble those of rose, but most flowers are larger. They are one of the longest living perennials. Most flowers a fragrant, massive double, usually pink, red or white, but can range in color. PHLOX, CREEPING This is one of the most popular groundcovers that grows in full sun and partial shade; they bloom mid spring and grow to a height of 6-8”; it spreads by trailing stems. There are pink, blue , red and emerald and two-tone colors . They are often used as border in planting beds and as an accent in rock gardens. PHLOX, GARDEN, very popular old fashion plant. Very vibrant colors great for garden color, and cutting. They grow in clumps with strong stems that bear simple lance-shaped leaves. Five-petaled flower bloom in cluster and are fragrant and each blossom grows from a long, narrow tube. They range in color of white, rose, pink, purple, lavender, and magenta. Some flowers are bicolored. Plants need to be spaced because of air circulation as they can be susceptible to powdery mildew. SALVIA, May Night Dense spikes of deep violet-purple flowers (dark as the night!) are produced in early summer and will continue as a long blooming perennial if de-headed. It is a clump that grows 18” to 24” tall and wide. This plant has oblong leaves which are aromatic when crushed. It was the 1997 perennial of the year. SEDUM, Autumn Joy, still one of the most popular tall, upright sedums that have substantial clumps of foliage which can be substituted for shrubs in the landscape. Stout stems support the massive flower heads that resemble broccoli heads that develop in late summer and burst into bloom in the late summer to early fall. Flowers are a dark, dusty pink and begin to bloom when most other perennials have finished blooming. Flowers may need to be pinched in June to prevent them from being floppy. Autumn Fire Sedum is more compact with thicker foliage, has a brighter pink flowers than Autumn Joy; and it blooms from late summer to early fall. |
