Growing plants will give you changes from year to year, but the beauty of it is- areas may be changed periodically to give even more interest, variety or changed because of your life style!
Staycations is a term used by people to stay at home and enjoy your home instead of going on vacation. Instead you enjoy your outdoor living areas and the surroundings of your home. We do not advocate this as a substitute for quality vacation time away from home with your friends or family. But by changing the appearance of your surroundings and a reason to stay home and enjoy your home; you create a functional extension from your home to your out- of- doors thereby creating a change that can give you a direct experience with nature. You can develop planting areas that have plants that flower periodically throughout the season or have interesting seasonal characteristics. You can create a blend of flowers through mass planting. Hardscape an area that can accommodate an outdoor kitchen /and or outdoor dining area. Garden plants such as green beans, tomatoes and dwarf fruit trees can be put on trellis’ or fences creating a vertical garden that grows not only food, but creates shade during the summer months and minimize the space that you need in your overall plan. All of this can increase the beauty of your yard and can give interesting changes throughout the year. Views from the home are important for the four seasons, including the winter months-with grass plumes, plants with berries and interesting bark. Create a haven for birds, butterflies and other wild life with plants that feed and shelter them. Help blend your home with nature, so nature can become a part of you. Are Staycations for you?
