I am Founder and President of Dobias Landscaping & Garden Center, Inc. I grew up on a farm in Mason County near Scottville, Michigan and attended high school at Mason County Central. I attended Michigan State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Resource Development. The courses that I enjoyed most in my curriculum were in landscape architecture and plant identification. These courses, along with many years of practical work have helped me perfect my landscape design skills. I have had the privilege working with several landscape architects and other designers. I have been a member of the Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association, as well as a certified Nurseryman for over 25 years. We attend the Great Lakes Trade Exposition every year, as well as one out-of-state show that offers continuing educational seminars and trade show exhibits. These shows keep us up-to-date on new trends and equipment in the Green Industry.

I have been involved with Habitat for Humanity as a member of the family advocacy program. We will provide landscaping for Habitat houses in the Grand Traverse area. I am also an associate member of the Grand Traverse Area Home Builders Association. We have been privileged to landscape eight houses in the Parade of Homes for different builders over the years.

In 1966 I married Sandra and helped raise two wonderful daughters, Nancy and Karen. Nancy has a Master Degree in Social Work and a Master Degree in Public Health from the University of Michigan. Karen has a Master Degree in Public Health from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She is currently attending Michigan State University pursuing her Doctorate of Osteopathy. We also have three beautiful grandchildren.

The success of our business is due to our customers. We have made many friends and enjoy valued relationships with our colleagues. Through skillful growing methods and maintenance of our plant inventory, we have top quality plants available to our customers. We have been told many times by our customers that we have the best looking plants at great prices. Because of our business emphasis, we stock an inventory of plants that are mostly larger "landscape size." We install irrigation systems with only quality components. Our workload is equally distributed between residential and commercial customers. The remainder of our business is in our Garden Center sales.

As it has been for thirty-six years, our goal is to provide quality plants, landscape, irrigation and design services to our many valued customers for years to come, both new and old.
