I am Dorian Dobias, Founder and President of Dobias Landscaping & Garden Center, Inc. I grew up in Mason County near Scottville, Michigan and went to high school at Mason County Central. I attended Michigan State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Resource Development. The courses that I enjoyed most in my curriculum were in landscape architecture and plant identification. These courses, along with many years of physical work have helped me perfect my landscape design skills. I have had the privilege working with several landscape architects and other designers. I have been a member of the Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association, as well as a certified Nurseryman for over 25 years.

My wife Sandra and I have been partners in the business since we were married. Sandra and I married in 1996 and raised two wonderful daughters, Nancy and Karen. Nancy has a Master Degree in Social Work and a Master Degree in Public Health from the University of Michigan. Karen as a Master Degree in Public Health from Emory University and a Doctorate of Osteopathy from Michigan State University. We also have three beautiful grandchildren.

We attend the Great Lakes Trade Exposition annually, as well as out-of-state shows that offer continuing education seminars and trade show exhibits. These shows help us keep up-to-date on new trends, new plant varieties and equipment. These shows also afford us the opportunity to keep up to date on the latest "green" practices used in the Landscaping Industry.

I have been involved with Habitat for Humanity as a member of the family advocacy program. We provide landscaping for Habit ate homes in the Grand Traverse area. I am also an associate member of the Grand Traverse Area Home Builders Association, where I have been privileged to landscape several residences in the Parade of Homes showcase over the years.

We have made many friends and enjoy valued relationships with our customers and our colleagues. Through skill full growing methods and maintenance of our plant inventory, we have grown the highest quality plants available for our customers. Our customers repeatedly tell us that our plants look the "healthiest". Every irrigation system that we install only uses quality components from reputable manufacturers.

As it has been for Forty-one years, our mission is to provide quality plants, landscape, irrigation systems and the highest quality design services to our valued customers.
